Seagulls struggle as Magpies win low scoring match

Bridport have again come up short this time in a low scoring game against Kingston, the Magpies went on to win 6.11.47 to Bridport 2.1.13. It was a low scoring affair at Kingston Beach Oval, the Magpies got onto the board early with Kristy Turner kicking a behind and then after that the Magpies piled on the pressure to get over the line.

Turner would go onto kick 2 goals for the game and have 26 disposals for the game, Breann Dugdell had a day out getting a game high 62 disposals. Rachel Wood had 39, for the Seagulls Brittany Hallahan keeps standing up for the Seagulls she had 36 while Lauren Mainwaring had 34. Mainwaring would kick one of the two goals for the Seagulls in this game.

It’s been a tough first season for Kaden Romero at the Seagulls, with Bridport struggling on the field, off field they have been looking at some recruitment efforts to bring some talent through the club. The win keeps the Kingston Magpies in finals contention, they’re still in 11th place needing to win their remaining games to even get close to being a chance of playing finals. They’re also going to need the Burnie Wolves to lose their remaining games as well.

The Seagulls sit in 18th position with just three wins for the 2024 season, coach Romero will hope that they can get some wins from their remaining six games to end the season on a high.
