It was the Darla Walsh show at Bridport Oval as the Kangaroos crushed the Seagulls 31.21.207 to Bridport 16.2.98. It was a high scoring game in front of 2,000 people as Darla Walsh booted 11 goals for the Lauderdale side. Alexandria Chalmers was a force up forward for the Seagulls booting 7 goals, Brittany Hallahan booted 3 and had 26 disposals. Hallahan has had a great season since coming to Bridport but wasn’t enough to help the Seagulls.
The Kangaroos went on four goal run in the first quarter to lead 25-12, but then finished the quarter with 11 goals to 4. The Seagulls fought back in the second quarter but they still 60 points adrift, after half time the goals were flowing for both sides with Lauderdale kicking away with Walsh starting to get herself more into the game in the second half.
Bonnie Fyffe also started to kick a few goals on her way to 6 majors, as well as Ayla Griffith, the Seagulls were just at a loss to stop the rout. Lauderdale was lead by Sophie Matthews who had 53 disposals and Nicola Cox with 50. Ayla Griffith finished with 42.
Darcy Murray was the major ball winner for the Seagulls, she had 42 disposals, Chloe Golds from the backline had 39 disposals. Parker DePrince was hard working for the Seagulls, but it was in vain as the Kangaroos were just far too good in the end.
It’s been a tough season for Bridport upon entering the TFLW as we turn for home with only a few games left in the season they will want to try and win a couple of their remaining games to keep themselves going forward. While the Kangaroos keep themselves in the race for the top four. They’re currently just behind the Wallabies, but there’s still a few games left for them to make it.
Bridport are sitting 18th with the other four new sides for 2024 struggling in the bottom four.
